Chapter 5: Stripped of Power

Pride just full Musa face. "Na true. Apart from me, two other people for Ability Union don reach SSS-level. From now, nobody go dey look anybody face."

E talk am loud, voice echo for corridor. Everybody dey nod, dey look my body like na me be their problem since.

As e dey talk, e dey send message give me. E wan show say new people don land.

I just stand, dey look am. For this life, if you never chop old age, no dey talk say garri no dey scratch throat.

Now dem don confirm who I be, I wan enter inside, but Musa purposely block my road.

Na small boy dey block old soldier. E pain me small, but I keep face straight.

"Timi, e don tay we see you for here. You no sabi the new rule?"

E talk am like say I be new recruit. I just dey look am.

"Anybody wey wan enter headquarters must drop weapon."

Rule wey no dey yesterday, na today e start?

"Abeg, give us your sword."

Some people dey look. Some dey whisper, dey stretch neck.

People wey stand for corner just dey look each other.

Even Musa own people dey look, dey reason say this one na wahala.

One person whisper,

"When dem start this rule?"

True talk. Even me dey ask.

"I just enter for my own business now-now, dem no collect my weapon."

Na so dem dey do for this side. If dem wan catch you, dem go form new law.

Musa just shout, "If you no get business here, commot! Or I go arrest all of una!"

E voice loud. Everybody begin clear road.

People just waka go, face dull.

People dey fear trouble. Nobody wan collect problem because of another person matter.

Musa face me again. "No vex, na new rule. I no expect say you go jam am. You no wan be the first to disobey order, abi?"

E dey act humble, but I see say e just wan make sure say I drop guard.

"Why I go do like that?"

I no get anything to hide. Na me be Timi, even with bare hand, demon no fit face me.

I just smile, hand over my sword. As I hand over the sword, I mutter small prayer for inside, make God cover me from backstab.

Smile no be weakness. If you sabi fight, your confidence dey your mind, no be for weapon.

Real power dey inside person, no be for weapon.

I learn that one for war. Na spirit dey fight, no be only sword.

All these their small play to show who get power just be like children own for my eye.

Na so children dey play with stick, dey shout winner. Old man dey look, e dey reason real war.

After I give them my sword,

Musa collect am with pride, pass am give officer. I fit see say e happy say e collect my sword.

Musa finally signal make I follow am go.

He nod, make I follow am enter. I just dey go, head high.

We enter headquarters together.

Door close, everywhere quiet. For corridor, you fit hear pin drop. Everybody dey watch as old lion dey enter lion den.
