Auntie Funmi even wink at me. "Musa, come shake body small!"

Dem dance with extra energy.

Their wrapper dey swing, some dey clap, others dey laugh. The music drown out every cry from the river.

I join them, dey dance follow.

I dey throw leg, try use am chase the fear from my heart. I dey watch dem, happy say I dey among people wey no fit bite me for back.

As for the girl wey dey shout for help—I no hear anything.

I pretend say the river no dey. Today, na only joy I wan see. No wahala go enter my mind.

"Evil seed, make we see if you go drown this time."

For my mind, I dey use prayer block any evil wey fit come. Na only God know wetin person fit face for this world.

I curse her for my mind.

If not for her, my life for soft small. I dey vow say, no matter the temptation, I no go fall again.

No soul for that area. I dey wonder whether na juju or God hand.

"Help, help me..."

Her voice no loud again, but she still dey act like say she nearly die. Water dey drip from her hair, body dey cold.

She dey wave, still dey shake, run come meet us.

As she dey run, people dey look her. Even the DJ pause small.

As she see me, her face twist with fear, she rush go hug one auntie.

She dey shiver, hold Auntie Ngozi tight. Everybody just dey look.

She point finger at me, voice sharp:

Her mouth dey shake, but her accusation clear pass whistle.

"Molester! Na him! He be pervert!"

The word land heavy. Some people turn, dey look me with new eye. My chest just dey pound.

My eye just open, I shock.

For my mind, I dey ask God, "Why this wahala again?"

Why e different from last time?

This girl no mention dog, no cry for puppy. Na me she just face directly. E shock me.

This girl dey come for me direct.

E be like say her spirit just dey target my own. I dey reason whether I offend anybody for my village.
