Chapter 8: After the Party

When I reach the party, I no see Auwalu or Halima Jinadu again.

Their absence felt like an ache, a reminder that some stories don’t get rewritten, no matter how much you wish.

Back then, I barely thought of her, busy with my own happiness. Now, everything was different.

By then, Auwalu don already spoil me with love, I no even send her.

I was the centre of his world, the one he returned to after every meeting, every battle.

Now…

The silence that followed felt cold, empty. My dreams of yesterday felt so far away.

“Sister.”

My sister voice bring me back.

She touched my arm, eyes worried. "Aunty, you dey hear me so?"

“I don tire. Make we go house.”

Her voice was small, almost pleading. I nodded, brushing a stray tear from my cheek.

But my mind still dey hope to see Auwalu one more time.

I glanced back, one last time, hoping fate would show me mercy. But the garden stayed empty.

My sister face dey pale, so I just hold her hand, we leave.

I wrapped my arm around her, determined to protect the little I had left.
