Chapter 4: Unravelling Horror
The second was an adult woman, found near the railway station, stripped naked, lying face-down, legs spread.
The sight of her battered body haunted the officers who found her. Even the hardened railway porters crossed themselves and muttered prayers under their breath.
The third was so mutilated she was unrecognisable; the killer had stabbed her with a neem branch, in an act of extreme cruelty.
People stopped passing that lane at night, even the stray dogs avoided it. The elders shook their heads and said, "Duniya kitni badal gayi hai."
As time went on, the murderer grew ever more brutal, and the police were powerless.
Arjun was summoned—full of determination, vowing to catch this monster.
He arrived with little fanfare, but a silent promise burning in his heart: No more children would die on his watch.
But just as Arjun arrived, the killer made a show of strength, presenting a fourth corpse: another little girl, her eyes gouged out.
Why was the killer obsessed with gouging out eyes? Was it a fetish? Some mysterious ritual?
Whispers grew in every household. "Maybe he wants to trap their souls." Others whispered about old tantric legends. Even the local pandit was summoned for advice.
