Chapter 4: Confrontation and Revenge

← Prev

He used all his strength to hold the door against me, refusing to let me in.

Kabir’s feet braced against the floor, teeth gritted. “Get out! Stay away!” he screamed, his voice cracking with fear.

I pushed with all my might, but still couldn’t force the door open.

My shoulder thudded into the wood again and again, each impact shaking the frame and making Sneha scream.

But my knife was strong enough, and even with all his strength, Kabir couldn’t close the door.

The blade bit deep into the panel, wood splintering. Kabir’s arms trembled, sweat pouring down his temples.

We were locked in a standoff.

For a long moment, everything was silent except for our ragged breathing and the pounding of my heart.

Sneha froze for a moment at the sight, then immediately rushed over, scratching and biting me.

She launched herself at me, nails digging into my arms, teeth snapping at my shoulder. Her bangles jingled wildly, shrill with terror.

“You want to kill my Kabir? I’ll fight you to the death!”

Her voice rose, shrill and defiant, as she swung at me with all her strength. For a moment, I almost pitied her, caught between two monsters.

As her bangles snapped and blood welled on my arm, I realised—revenge was messier than I’d ever imagined.
