Chapter 6: Overtime Temptation
Another week pass. As expected, Fisayo message me again.
[Where this weekend?]
Me: [My padi dey marry, I gats be groomsman for another town.]
Fisayo: [You no get any free time at all?]
This one serious o.
Me: [No o, to go and come na like seven or eight hours.]
Truth be say, no wedding anywhere. Na fear dey catch me. Two weeks without am, e dey hard. Saturday, I use small toys for house. E help small, but no too reach. My mind still dey Fisayo side. The more I think, the more my body dey hot. To cool body, I just carry myself go office go do overtime. Na money dey calm person.
But as I swipe my card enter, my mind cut. God, wetin I do? Why Fisayo dey do overtime too? He just waka come out from pantry with coffee, raise eyebrow for me.
“Another city? Groomsman?”
I force laugh. “The wedding cancel last minute.”
Fisayo just laugh, shake head. “Ifeanyi, you dey dodge me.”
For my mind I dey para—this Lagos, see as spirit dey pursue man even for office. As Fisayo dey look me with him wahala smile, I just dey wish say NEPA fit take light make everywhere scatter, at least make I get excuse run comot. But no way, na me and am dey alone for office.
