Chapter 6: Office Showdown

Those two voices, I sabi am well. Even with my eyes closed, I fit recognize Tunde and Morayo gist. After all, na their voice I hear for phone last night. I hear am for Bluetooth speaker for my mind.

I see Tunde carry folder, dey follow Morayo. Guy dey bounce, suit neat. Morayo just dey beside am, dey answer him with smile. The guy fresh, full of energy. He dey move with that confidence of person wey get new phone. Morayo just dey smile beside am, dey hear am dey talk. She dey enjoy him gist, sometimes even cover mouth to hide laugh. Dem stand close. If you see their body language, you go know say dem don dey used to each other.

I no know wetin Tunde talk again, but the smile for Morayo face come even wide. Her dimples deep, she no even notice people dey watch.

"Hey..."

The young woman see me as I waka go meet Morayo, she no fit stop me. Her eyes open, she want block me, but I just waka pass am.

"Morayo."

As she hear my voice, the two of them turn look me together. Their eyes sharp, like person wey police just stop. I see surprise and shock for Morayo face. Her mouth open small, she quickly close am. Tunde sef freeze.

I ask if her meeting don finish? If yes, time reach to talk our matter. I no even waste time, my voice low but serious.

"I come here since ten, I don wait two hours for you."

My wristwatch dey show past twelve, my belly dey rumble.

"Who tell you say I dey meeting?"

Surprisingly, Morayo frown, ask me back. She dey look Tunde, confusion full her face.

I shock, look her well. I dey try read her mind, no understand wetin dey happen. The confusion for her eyes no be fake. She look like person wey dem just slap with wet cloth.

Me and her understand at the same time. Lightbulb flash for our head at once. Na game be this.

I no talk. My lips tight, I dey observe. Morayo eye scan the whole office, serious. She dey find who arrange this set up. People for office just bow head, nobody talk. Nobody wan enter trouble. Everybody dey busy with keyboard.

The young woman wey carry me come shrink, bow her head. She dey tremble. E be like she no expect wahala today. But before she bow, she throw quick look at Tunde. She just do quick sign, as if to say 'na your boy oo.'

Of course. For this office, na only Tunde fit play this kind game. Na him dey run Morayo back end. He fit manipulate staff.

"I forget tell everybody say the meeting cancel, I no do am on purpose. Sorry, Madam Morayo."

Tunde look up at Morayo with innocent face. As if to say, 'forgive me, baby.' Guy sabi act.

Morayo always dey pamper am. She dey quick forgive Tunde. For my own, na long story. So this time, she no talk anything. She just hiss small, wave am off.

"Come inside."

She look me, just let the matter go. No time for scene. She just want make we finish our wahala.

As I pass Tunde, I see the pride and challenge for his eyes. He just raise eyebrow, like say na him dey win.
