Chapter 5: The Hunt Begins
After arriving on Earth, the sophon began searching for Ritu with tireless determination. It crept through WhatsApp calls, emails, and flickered on old CRT televisions in remote villages. From official records, it unearthed Ritu’s 1966 paper: “Spectral Analysis of Habitable Zone Planets in the Alpha Centauri Triple Star System.” The faded Indian Journal of Astrophysics stamp was still visible, the name Ritu Kapoor clear as day.
“Not good. She knew about Trisolaris thirty years ago. She must be found and eliminated immediately.” The sophon’s voice was flat, the urgency sharp as a police lathi.
The Trisolaran Leader issued a kill order to ETO core member Mohan, once just another angry Delhi youth. A single miracle from the sophon turned him into a fanatic—restless protestor to true believer. Unlike Kabir, Mohan was less ambitious, not so clever as to be dangerous, but loyal as a junior clerk.
With sophon’s help, Mohan used Sky Eye to investigate Ritu and outpaced Sharma in finding traces of her time at Kaveripur Construction Corps. The hunt had begun—Mohan the eager bloodhound, Sharma the patient tracker, both circling the same prey.
