Chapter 4: System Yarn and True Story

The system yarn for my ear.

The way system dey talk, e be like mechanic wey dey analyze motor problem.

“Host, you don reason am, abi?”

I no fit lie. I reason am reach.

“That babe wey wear white dress beside the small villain na the main babe wey just come back—Zainab Musa.”

Na true, I reason am.

For my mind, na story wey get as e be. Sometimes, God dey write script wey pass Nollywood.

Because the main babe, Zainab Musa, still dey study art—

She get head for art, and her papa fit talk to all the people for the industry. Na person wey fit open door for anybody.

For the original story, the caretaker wey Xie family find no get good mind. E dey two-face, dey greedy, treat Timi anyhow.

Omo, na that kain person wey dem dey call "aje butter for outside, witch for house." E go smile for your front, stab you for back.

When Xie family fall, e carry money run, leave the boy—wey already dey fragile because of family wahala—alone for street.

Na so dem dey do for Lagos, if person no get backbone. Even police no fit help.

To even find Baba Musa family, e no even try.

That caretaker just collect everything, run go Ghana. No conscience at all.

Timi suffer well. School no dey, e dey do small jobs, small money, dem still cheat am, even break one of him legs.

E go carry block for site, dem no pay am. Even one agbero break him leg, still collect change from am.

Later, e jam one teacher—real art master for university. Na there dem discover him talent, e struggle from bottom…

That teacher, Prof Ikenna, na legend for UNN. Na him first see the light for Timi, help am brush up.

Na so e con become artist wey everybody dey respect.

E use art build name for Naija. Newspapers even dey write story about am. If to say e get better support, e for don get international award.

By then, the main babe don already dey shine for industry. Timi finally meet Zainab Musa, hear of the childhood engagement.

But as e look him own battered body, courage no dey to chase am…

You know as e be for we country—if man no get level, e go just dey shy. Even the strong ones dey hide for corner.

For the end, the day before main babe wedding, Timi jump from tall building.

E pain me reach bone. Everybody wey sabi am cry that day. Lagos even rain for two days, as if sky dey mourn with us.

For the note wey e drop—

E write say na that caretaker spoil him life. If to say e meet Zainab Musa early, e life for sweet, no regret.

Even my neighbor wey no sabi read shed tear that day.
