Chapter 3: Suspicion and Solo Run

I use the break talk to room captain:

I turn to am, lower my voice, "Guy, abeg, wetin dey sup? How you forget that flash lineup? Na you dey always abuse us say we no dey watch tutorial."

"Wait, why you no fit throw pop-flash behind A long again? I don show you that thing tire now."

I dey look am well, dey wait make e smile or something.

He just dey frown, look lost:

E just raise shoulder, face dull. "Omo, Jide, abeg no start. I swear, I no remember that thing again. You sure say na me?"

"Jide, you sure say you never wake finish? Even pro players dey struggle throw that kind flash. How we wey be normal players wan do am?"

He no dey form, na true confusion. E shock me reach bone.

Na that time enemy team begin scatter chat:

All chat don catch fire. Na so enemy begin drop insult.

"Cheater don show o! You don on hack, abi?"

"Oya kick this guy jor! No spoil game for us."

"Una no go kick this cheater? Nonsense."

"Rubbish player."

I just laugh.

I dey type "lol" for chat, dey flex. My own be say if dem sabi, make dem try win.

So if una no fit win, na cheat be the matter?

I dey reason, "Nigerians sha, anytime person dey on fire, na so dem go dey drag am down."

"If I dey cheat, make my whole family enter heaven."

I swear for chat. Room dey shout. Na so some people dey hail me, some dey vex.

"If you no sabi play, abeg go practice."

I dey give them back as dem dey give me. I no dey carry last.

"Abeg, no dey bark for chat."

Na so the banter just dey sweet me. If na street football, dem for don carry referee commot me.

After the pause, I continue dey run things.

I adjust my headset, crack my knuckles, get ready for next half. This one go mad pass.

Now I really dey notice say everywhere don change.

I dey observe. Even the way people dey pick gun, e slow. Like say dem dey use hand wey dey pain dem. I just dey see mistake up and down.

Why everybody skill just drop like say dem pour water for electric socket?

For my mind, I dey imagine maybe dem curse the whole server, or na bug from last update. But e no make sense. Me alone just dey sharp like say na private training mode.

My C+ rank no even high, but at least I sabi basic game sense.

I no even reach where pros dey. But these people, dem no even try.

But these ones—forget recoil control or movement, dem no even fit waka straight.

Sometimes I go stand, no shoot, enemy go empty full mag for ground, bullet no near me.

I dey laugh, dey type "abeg aim better" for chat, dey troll dem. Na so enemy begin beg for tips, some dey accuse me say I dey use lag switch.

Even my roommates, dem don turn robot. Every step, dem go pause, or waka jam wall like dem blind. At one point, Musa vex, knock over him bottle of Coke for floor, shout, "Chineke meh! Wetin be this nonsense!" Femi just dey curse for Yoruba under breath, "Olorun maje!"

At a point, I think say dem dey do April Fool prank. I wave hand for Musa face, e just dey look screen like zombie.

Every gunfight just dey pain person eye.

I dey feel like make I switch game. But something inside me dey push me to continue. E be like say na only me remain dey play correct FPS.

If attackers manage enter B site, both teams go dey jump, dey spin, dey shoot anyhow, nobody go die.

At a point, my teammates dey use voice chat dey beg, "Guy, abeg just carry us reach higher rank, we no fit again."

I tire. Na just few taps, I end the show.

At the end, my kill count na double everybody own combined. People just dey yarn say e no normal again.

I quick whisper again, "God abeg, no let dem carry my own skill too."
