Chapter 5: The Family’s Dirty Little Secret
When Logan returned, I was kneeling in a daze.
The lady smiled and stood up. “Logan’s back. You must be tired these days?”
“This girl accidentally broke a special vase from Europe. I punished her to kneel for fifteen minutes.”
Logan walked around me without a glance.
His hair was slightly disheveled, his face weary. “How is my brother?”
The lady sighed. “I’ve asked all the women in the house these days... Logan, to be honest, the idea of a widow bride is truly frightening. No young woman is willing.”
Logan frowned. “What’s there to be unwilling about? Just pick any woman and threaten her family.”
The lady hesitated, holding her handkerchief. “Such a thing feels wrong. I’m afraid it can’t be hidden from your mother.”
Logan was unmoved. “With enough money, someone will be brave. With enough pressure, the marriage will happen.”

“Mom doesn’t like you. If you handle this well, she’ll definitely change her opinion of you.”
The lady gently agreed.
